Step One in running the table: Brentford

As we know, if we’re to have any hope of winning the Prem, we’re going to need to see both clubs above us drop points. We’ll need LIverpool to drop three more than what we might drop; we’ll need City to drop two more than what we might drop. Still, for as daunting as that sounds, we seem to relish the role of the chaser over that of the chased. As we prepare for a visit from Brentford, who sit 15th, six points from relegation, we have to know that we’re going to have to almost-perfect from here on in.

Of course, much hay has been made of our fearsome away form of late—17 goals scored in three matches, and we’re the first side in English history to have scored four or more goals in the first of half of three consecutive away matches in a row. Add in a deserved 4-1 thrashing of Newcastle and an almost-equally confident 3-1 dismissal of Liverpool, and it does indeed to start to think like we’ve greased the skids and are, at the risk of mixing metaphors, in for smooth sailing.

However, it must be noted that Brentford are still a brave side

One unconfirmed report read, stated Martinelli was not with the squad. If so, Trossard should start and rotate with Havertz in the false 9 role. Question is will Jorginho start today, or will he be saved for Porto on Tuesday? If not, do we see ESR or even Vieira at the left 8?

Arteta’s choices become even more magnified after the match on Tuesday– as the team moves into a period of 10-14 games in 49 days (depending on our CL fate).

Hoping we get a couple goals early once more to bring Brentford out of their defensive crouch– setting the second half up for divvying minutes among the injury returnees in the squad.

    Arsenal 3-0.

not too worried about Martinelli’s availability tbh. Trossard has shown himself more than up to the task. looks like Saka’s in the squad but I wouldn’t mind seeing Nelson or ESR on the right. I don’t like too many tweaks even against supposed smaller side

An early goal or two would indeed be welcome, we’ve come barging out of the gates in the last few. Even if Brentford are disciplined, you could say the same of several opponents that we swatted away recently.

Unnecessary. It was just a bit of banter. No one was rude or insulting until you came along.
